Aussie Will Power captured his second straight IndyCar Series race by taking Monday's rain-delayed Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg just seven months after suffering a back injury.
Power, of Team Penske, put on a dominant performance in the second-half of the 100-lap event on the St. Petersburg street circuit, passing E.J. Viso for the lead after Viso suffered a gear box problem with 23 laps remaining.
The 29-year-old Power captured the pole and then led the way in all three practices before collecting his third career victory.
Power, who injured his back in a crash in Sonoma seven months ago, became the first driver to win the opening two IndyCar races of the season since Sam Hornish did it nine years ago.
Power, one of Penske's three full-time drivers this year, finished sixth at last year's St. Petersburg race.
Justin Wilson placed second while Ryan Briscoe, who won last year's race at St. Petersburg, placed third.
Dario Franchitti, the defending series champion, overcame a spin on the opening lap and then moved up six positions in the last 11 laps to finish fifth while Danica Patrick rallied to place seventh.
